About the Role
The Director of Digital Operations defines and drives operational workflows that integrate with digital and direct-to-consumer systems to provide a consistent experience across all platforms. This role also leads the teams that provide support to our affiliate stations, Networks, MVPDs (Multichannel Video Programming Distributors), OTT (Over-the-Top), free-to-air, and streaming partners.
This role is part of the Media Operations team, which is responsible for delivering a high-quality experience to millions of viewers across our networks, digital platforms, mobile applications, websites, and licensing partnerships. In short, we bring great content to YOU!

Manage teams that provide engineering support to all affiliate stations, MVPDs, OTT, free-to-air, and streaming partners, and maintain relationships
Support day-to-day activities to ensure optimal performance of all digital platforms
Work with leads on the development and management of operational SLAs for digital distribution
Manage the escalation of consumer complaints, including FCC-reported issues, across all platforms and bring to resolution
Maintain accurate downstream content insertion during live event scenarios in partnership with the Live Media operations team
Partner with digital teams to envision and define and define a strategic roadmap that is aligned with the company’s overall business objectives
Communicate proactively with downstream partners when new systems or scenarios are implemented
Collaboration & Partnerships
Consult with Media Operations, Business, Marketing, Sports, Entertainment and News teams to understand digital distribution needs
Partner with Content Platforms Engineering and Operations teams to standardize downstream platforms
Collaborate with Systems Engineering Teams on technical layouts and designs
Promote the use of data to make business decisions
Track operations dashboards and look for ways to make things work better, faster, and smoother
Prioritize the use of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to motivate the team

Level & Role Specific Qualifications
3+ years managing digital operations and or media distribution teams
Experience with production and broadcast operations in both traditional and IP-based infrastructure environments (e.g., IP routers, SDN, SMPTE 2022 & 2110, and best practices for securing IP-based systems and networks)
Knowledge of on-prem and cloud-based storage and compute infrastructure platforms that power the modern broadcasting environment
Familiarity with ATSC 3.0, RF/Satellite, and terrestrial distribution technologies
Knowledge of all the major codecs, including MPEG2, HEVC, and emerging codecs
Knowledge of support and maintenance of current and next-generation digital television architecture, equipment, and standards, including video over-IP, encoders, decoders, distribution, control rooms, etc.
Technical knowledge of Media Supply Chain, broadcast, and MVPD linear distribution, Video on Demand (VOD), and Over the Top (OTT) systems
Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions
Ability to translate and communicate business requirements into operational and technical requirements
Preferred Skills and Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree is a plus but is not required
Knowledge of emerging technologies, such as 1080p, 4K, and HDR formats
Knowledge of free-to-air broadcasting
Knowledge of affiliate tracking systems, such as Medea
